Massive Ovarian Cysts With The Same Weight Of 10 Babies Was Removed From This Woman!
A 24-year-old woman from Mexico has finally had the surgery needed to extract a huge cyst from her body. How big was the cyst? It weighed five stone – about as heavy as 10 newborn babies!
The woman noticed that she kept gaining weight despite being on a diet. She then discovered she was suffering from the growth of an ovarian cyst.
“The patient was quite overweight, so after starting on a diet, she noticed her face, arms and legs were getting thinner but her stomach was getting bigger,” Dr. Erik Hanson Viana from Mexico General Hospital, the doctor who performed the surgery, said.
“When I met her, she could just about walk a couple of steps before getting agitated and feeling like she was struggling to breathe because the cyst was crushing her lungs,” Dr. Viana added.
The cyst was so big that it put her at great risk of heart failure. It also crushed her internal organs which resulted in problems in walking, breathing, and eating. Dr. Viana claimed that it was the biggest cyst that was removed whole.

“This is the biggest cyst I have operated on. It was so large that it took up 95{88c35fc59d12a25b71e6504d7161f08c0e07bfe41b19c35c5bedd5b69128fb63} of the patient’s abdomen. It’s really rare to operate on a cyst this big, it measured half a metre in diameter and the circumference was 157 cm,” Dr. Viana said.
“The largest in history weighed 320lb back in 1902, and took several days to drain, I can’t even imagine one that large,” Dr. Viana added.
Dr. Viana also said that it would have gotten to a point where the woman would have been unable to walk, severely malnourished and unable to eat if she hadn’t undergone the operation to extract the huge cyst.
Fortunately, the woman has made a full recovery and has regained normalcy in her life.

“When we saw her six months after surgery to see how the scar was healing and monitor for other problems, she was fully healed. She was standing completely straight. She now walks like a normal person without needing a walking stick or other mobility aids and her abdomen is now flat,” Dr. Viana said.
“A big part of what we do is the gratification you feel when you could change a person’s life completely, and knowing they would never forget you, even if they forget to say thank you,” he added.
Ovarian cysts are little sacs of fluid that form on or within a woman’s ovary. It can cause pain caused by a feeling of pressure in the belly. However, sometimes women might not feel anything at all. Many women worry about cancer upon discovering that they have cysts. It is important to note that, most of the time, cysts are not cancer-causing tumors.
Despite not being cancerous, ovarian cysts can break open, causing damage to the ovaries. This is a serious problem. See your doctor right away if you feel a sudden and intense pain that makes it difficult to walk.
