Here are a few things you might want to know about your n*pple:
1. They can expand up to several inches
The size of a woman’s nipples and areolas can be as wide as half of a paper bill or smaller than a coin, says Alyssa Dweck, M.D., ob-gyn in Westchester, New York and coauthor of V Is for Vagina. It can also expand some more during pregnancy or weight gain.
2. Each person has a different colored n*pple
Since our skin colors are different, the color of our n*pples are also different from one another.
3. They can be a source of intense pleasure
A 2011 study from the Journal of Sexual Medicine claims that when nipples are stimulated, a pleasure center inside the brain lights up the same way it lights up after stimulation of the clitoris and vagina as seen in an MRI scan.
4. N*pple orgasms really happen
The same study also claims that some women are s*xually pleasured by stimulating the n*pples alone.
5. A person can be born with more than two n*pples
Some people are born with “supernumerary nipples,” which resembles moles. Both men and women could be born with numerous nipples which can be located in different parts of the body. Famous singer Harry Styles of One Direction reportedly has four.

6. They are supposed to be bumpy
If you observe what your n*pple looks like, then you might have seen a few bumps here and there. “Those bumps on the areola can be hair follicles, ducts, or oil glands that produce lubricating fluid,” says Dweck. “It’s totally normal to have them.”
7. There are certain bumps which indicates an illness
Paget’s disease is a rare form of cancer which may look like a red bump or rash on the nipple or areola. “It’ll look like an angry skin change that doesn’t go away,” says Dweck.
8. Going to the gym can irritate them
Putting on a bit of petroleum jelly on them before you hit the gym will go a long way. Some people experience nasty chaffing on their n*pples when they rub against the shirt or the sports bra.
9. Nursing a baby also hurts them
Soreness, pain, cracking, and bleeding are some of the things your n*pples might feel especially for first time mommies. Don’t worry though because these symptoms disappear once you’re used to breastfeeding your baby.
10. It leaks milk (obviously)
Moms who have just given birth should be prepared to bring an extra blouse and nursing pads. Most mothers claim to leak milk once they hear their babies cry, which is a weird and inexplicable phenomenon.
11. Seeing a discharge means bad news
A bit of discharge can be normal, especially after giving birth. “But a white, creamy discharge that’s released on its own could be a sign of a non-cancerous growth in the brain,” says Dweck. Green or black discharge could mean a benign duct problem while a bloody discharge might mean breast cancer.
